CANYON MAY START
Recovery From Soreness
Canyon may yet be able to take his place in the field for the Sixth Championship Qualifying Heat at Addington today. His driver, B. J. Forrester, worked him freelegged at Yaldhurst yesterday and afterwards Canyon was showing no signs of soreness. He was so sore on Thursday that little chance was held of his starting again at the meeting. F. A. Shinn will fly to Auckland after driving Maestro’s Melody and Furtive at Addington today. He will drive Gold Indian in' the October Handicap at the Auckland meeting tonight. As well as Bang, Eddie Cobb, the American driver, will drive Sebabu in the main sprint at Auckland tonight. The Auckland reinsman, F. Smith, will be driving at Auckland tonight. He will fly north before the Sixth Championship Qualifying Heat in which he was engaged to drive Damian. A new driver will be engaged for Damian in today’s race. Invicta will be scratched from his heat today, but there is a chance that he will be able to compete on the third day of the meeting. Invicta was worked yesterday afternoon and he pulled up | much better than when worked earlier in the week.
