AUSTRALIAN SHEARERS
Training In N.Z. 1 Conditions
Three of Australia’s top shearers arrived in Christchurch yesterday to begin training under New Zealand conditions for the Australasian shearing championships to be held at Masterton next month.
The men. all from Victoria, will spend the next few months shearing Romney sheep with three-inch combs. Their experience has been limited to shearing Mer.no sheep with two-and-a-half-inch combs.
The shearers, Messrs D. Allen. K. Sarre. and F Jarvis. are on a visit sponsored by Federated Farmers and the Australian Wool Bureau, and are accompanied by their wives.
They left for Wellington last evening.
