Rubbish Collection

Sir.—I do not wish to complain about council rubbish collectors in general; they seem to be a cheery lot. making the best of a most unpleasant job However, some are most inconsiderate in their treatment of our good rubbish containers. The City Council decrees regulation rubbish bins, complete with lids, at the price of £1 5s or more. Our last one having been battered to bits, we bought a brand new one, and. to do our street proud, dad spent an evening painting it with silver paint, and there it was in all its pristine glory, the pride of our hearts. When 1 went to bring it in next day. it was a battered wreck, the lid missing. We bought a new l.d and when 1 came back from my shopping today the bin was thrown in the gutter two doors away, and the lid thrown in the other direction. More consideration, young men. please.—Yours, etc. GRANNY. February 9. 1961.
