CORRUPTION CHARGES
Bognuda Found Not Guilty (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 10. After a three-hour retirement, a jury in the Supreme Court at Wellington today returned a verdict of not guilty on all counts against Frederick Ernest Bognuda. Mr Justice McGregor was on the Bench. Bognuda was charged with five breaches of the Secret Commissions Act. He was represented by Mr W. E. Leicester, with him Mr R. G. Collins. Mr W. R. Birks, with him Mr C. J. Fernyhough, prosecuted. He was charged with having paid £5BO 10s to Hector John Wotten as an inducement to show favour to companies of which Bognuda was director. He was also jointly charged with F. and J. Bognuda, Ltd., Bognuda, Adams, and Blyth Sand and Gravel Supplies, Ltd., and the Dry Creek Quarrying Company, Ltd., with making gifts of building materials to Wotten to the value of £5O 18s for the same purpose.
