Topdressing Pilot Killed

A topdressing pilot was killed instantly when a Piper aircraft crashed near Kiwitea, about 25 miles north of Palmerston North, yesterday He was:
Michael Roy Lucas, aged 24. single, whose next-of-kin lives in Invercargill.
Mr Lucas was flying the aircraft off the strip on the property of Mr R. Silk, Te Awa. The plane crashed on a neighbouring property about 5 p.m. It was so badly damaged and twisted that Mr Lucas had to be cut free.
