Australian. American, and New Zealand visitors In Christchurch for the Inter-Dominion Trottin,. Championship carnival, were yesterday the guests of the New B-igbton Trotting Club at the New Brighton racecourse for the trials and stallion parade organised by the Canterbury Trotting Owners’ and Breeders* Association in conjunction with the Rangiora, Amberley. and New Brighton Trotting Clubs. The New Brighton Trotting Club's rooms had been opened for the SOO guests present and the atmosphere was informal. Afternoon tea was provided tor the guests. The president of the New Zeeland Metropolitan Trotting Club (Mr J. K. Davidson), thanked the organisers and hosts Fashions were in accordance with the hot day, and women racegoers chose suits and frocks of cotton and silk. The wife of the president of the New Brighton Trotting Club (Mrs A. McDonald) wore a silk suit in blue tonings. It featured a wide collar pleated in front, a cinched waistline, and was finished with big white buttons to the neck With it, she teamed a soft white straw hat, swathed round the crown with satin white gloves, and black shoes and handbag. The wife of the president of the New Zealand Owners' and Breeders’ Association (Mrs W Desmond), chose a sheath frock of oatmeal linen, featuring eyelet embroidered sprays on the bodice. It was teamed with a matching straw hat finished with roses tipped with deep pink, and white accessories.

The wife of the president of the New Zealand Trotting Conference (Mrs C S Thomas), wore a suit of navy linen, styled with a white collar. Black accessories, and a navy and white straw hat. completed the outfit.

Gladioli, asters, dahlias, and other late summer flowers, had been used unstintingly to decorate the club rooms and tea kiosk. They had been arranged by Mrs McDonald, and the wife of the vice-presi-dent of the New Brighton Club (Mrs A. Laing).
