Obituary MRS E. M. FORBES
Mrs Emma Serena Forbes, widow of Mr G. W. Forbes, a former Prime Minister of New Zealand, died at her home at “Crystal Brook,” Cheviot, yesterday after a short illness. She was 83.
Mrs Forbes was born in Christchurch but lived most of her life at Cheviot. Her husband was Prime Minister between 1930 and 1935. During this time she lived in Wellington.
She was patron of several organisations. While Mr Forbes was Prime Minister she accompanied him on three trips overseas and travelled in Europe and America.
She is survived by two daughters and a son. Miss B. Forbes lives at “Crystal Brook,” Mrs C. Mackenzie at Happy Valley, and Mr Robert Forbes at Waipara.
