8 HORSES QUALIFY
Vemita Wins Heat
Bight horses qualified to race at totalisator meetings when they competed in two qualifying test races and paced a mile and a half better than Imln 20sec at trials held by the Canterbury Trotting Owners' and Breeders' Association at New Brighton yesterday. Venuto led for the last seven furlongs of the First qualifying test race, and beat Our Kay. which improved three places in the run home handily by two lengths. Venuto paced the distance In 3min 23 l-s»ec.
Royal Attack recorded a sound performance to win the Second qualifying test race in 3mtn Msec. He was a long way from the lead early after a slow beginning, but a strong run carried him up to the pacemaker. Super Chat, half a mile out, and he drew away In the run home to win by two lengths from Special Guest. Results:— FIRST QUALIFYING TEST RACE; one mile and a half— Venuto It A. M.
