Junior Chamber Cheque
On behalf of Christchurch Junior Chamber its president, Mr F. D. King, handed a cheque for £24,217 to Mr J L. Hay, representing Town Hall Promotion, at the Junior Chamber’s luncheon meeting yesterday.
This was for the proceeds from the Junior Chamber’s mystery envelopes project, said Mr King. He congratulated Town Hall Promotion on its efforts over the last three years and on reaching its target. “We in Town Hall Promotion are profoundly thankfpl to you for what you have -done. It came at a most appropriate time,” said Mr J L. Hay, accepting the cheque An enthusiastic team, the support bf the business community, and the wonderful support of the public all combined to make the mystery envelopes effort such a success. With this cheque from the Junior Chamber and the gift of £2OOO from Mr and Mrs Ferrier, the target of £lOO.OOO was attained provided all promises ware redeemed. The lists were still' open and donations would still be welcomed, said Mr Hay.
