FORTT-YEAR-OLD TREE TRANSPLANTED.—A weeping elm tree was yesterday moved to the grounds of the Burnside High School from a private property in Idris road, where it had been for the last 40 years. This photograph shows Mr C. Cross, headmaster of the school, and Mr H. E. Baxter, landscape overseer, Ministry of Works, examining the tree just after its arrival by truck. Before the tree was moved, the leaf surface was reduced by three-quarters and the remaining leaves were sprayed with a plastic solution.
