Firmer Tendency Maintained (N.Z P.A.-Reuter—Copvrigtit) LONDON. Feb. S. The London share market this week has maintained the firmer tendency which has been evident since the opening oi a new account. There was a temporary setback after uncertainty on Wall Street and for a time President Kennedy's message to Congress generally acted as a brake on demand, but the market recovered well, particularly the equity section with the notable exception of Kaffirs. There have been marked fluctuations in Industrial shares which are still below their recent best. Kariy Keeovery However, an early recovery is expected under the influence of the recent spate of takeover bids or rumours of them. President Kennedy’s reiterated pledge to defend the dollar and maintain the price of gold resulted tn a long list of losses In Kaffirs, but on the whole there has been a considerable volume of buying orders from the publics and despite widespread profittaking the trend of prices seems mainly upwards.
