Australian Frigate At Wellington
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Jan. 27. The Royal Australian Navy frigate Gascoyne, which arrived on a three day visit to-day showed little sign of her pounding from heavy seas during her Tasman trip. For five of the 15 days the frigate was battered by winds between 50 and 55 miles an hours. Gascoyne, a River-class frigate converted for oceanographic research, also serves as a training ship for the Royal Australian Navy. Most of the trainees were seasick during the storms. Two days were spent at Port Underwood, in the Marlborough Sounds, cleaning up and painting before the frigate left for Wellington.
