FASTER STILL
In past years many junior athletes have shown a bad loss of form during their first season of senior competition. An exception appears to be Jib Power, the national junior two mile champion last year who also had the rare distinction of winning the Canterbury 880 yards, mile, and two mile titles in the one season. At the Ashburton club's open meeting on January 14. although Power had to be conteht with second place to Gerald Hack in the senior half-mile, won in Imin 55sec, he was rewarded by returning his fastest time of Imin 55.75ec This was an improvement of I.6sec on his previous best time, made when setting the Canterbury junior record at the last provincial championships.
