Expansion In Australia (N.Z. Press Assn.’-Copyrtqhtf SYDNEY, January 24. Carborundum Australasia Pty., Ltd.,' will build a new £500.000 coated abrasive plant in Melbourne. The company, a subsidiary of the Carborundum Company of Niagara Falls, New York, currently is expanding its manufacturing facilities in Australia. The managing director of Carborundum Australasia, Mr K. A. Grimes, said today operations were expected to begin in the new plant during the third quarter of 1961. He said the company’s ability to serve all consumers would be strongly supported by the new facility, both in terms of quality of product and delivery schedules. The continuous flow of technical information from Carborundum’s research and development activities would place the Australian subsidiary in the position of offering advanced design of product, he added.
