B.H.P. RECORD OUTPUT
Broken Hill Proprietary Company, Ltd., achieved record steel production in December. Ingot production was 329,532 tons, compared with 305,431 tons in November and 306.923 tons in October. Plate and strip mill output reached a new monthly peak of 96,769 tons, beating the November previous record of 95,770 tons. Pig iron produced increased sharply from 244.780 tons in November to 273.689 tons. Bloom and slab mill output expanded to 284.517 tons. It was 265.040 tons in November and 269,843 tons in October. Tinplate production of 8498 tons was slightly lower. It compared with 9020 tons in November and 8600 tons in October. Output of B.HP.. and A. 1.5., as follows: Pig iron 273,689 tons in December. 244.780 tons in November: ingots 329.532. 305.431; bloom and slab 284,517. 265,040: heavy 151.129. 154.789; plate and strip 96.769. 95.770; rod mill 10.378. 12.632: merchant 90.712, 119,150; cold rolling 2420, 3569; tinplate 8498. 9020.
