S.E.A.T.O. VIEW
Onlv U.S. •/ Convinced BANGKOK, Jan. 5. It is believed that the. South-east Asia Treaty Organisation as a whole remained unconvinced of the “invasion” at its meeting yesterday in spite of testimony from a group of United States Army officers who had arrived from Washington a few hours earlier. The S.E.A.T.O. council will hold a further meeting at its headquarters in Bangkok tomorrow to discuss Laos. Mr Pote Sarasin, the S.E.A.T.O. Secretary-General, said yesterday there were reports of increasing supplies of war materials to “rebel elements” in Laos by Soviet aircraft operating from North Vietnam, but the presence of Communist ground forces had to be confirmed before S.E.A.T.O. could take action.
