FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone is centred to the west of the North Island. A complex trough of low pressure is moving slowly northwards over the South Island. Forecast:— Marlborough and Nelson.—Moderate to fresh northwesterlies about the Sounds decreasing during the day; moderate variable winds elsewhere with afternoon sea breezes about the coast in Nelson; fine and warm. Outlook: fine. West Coast.—Moderate variable winds, south-westerlies predominating in the north; variable skies with some rain mainly in the south; temperatures mild. Outlook: changeable, .with rain at times. Canterbury.—Moderate to fresh southerlies predominating; rather cloudy with some scattered showers; temperatures cooler. Outlook: rain at times.
