JUNGLE HIGHWAYS.—The native people of Sarawak are adept at handling the light canoes which provide transport on the rivers which, cutting their way through dense jungle, are the highways of the country. In this picture by the noted Chinese photographer, K. F. Wong, Iban women are seen skilfully navigating rapids on the River Gaat. The picture is from “Pagan Innocence”, Mr Wong’s book of magnificent photographs of Borneo and its peoples. The publishers are Jonathan Cape.
