THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY
Annual Convention In City The New Zealand branch of the Theosophical Society is at present holding its sixty-fourth annual convention in Christchurch. The president of the Christchurch Lodge (Mr F. M. Hieder) has been appointed to preside at the convention, which is being attended by delegates from the 17 lodges of the society throughout New Zealand. Members of the Theosophical Society from Singapore, England, and Australia are also attending the convention. The general secretary of the society in Australia (Miss Helen V. Zahara) is the guest speaker. The convention opened on Tuesday, December 27, and on Wednesday lectures were given by Miss Zahara, and convention business was transacted. On Thursday there were discussions and a lecture by Miss C. G. Pollard, and on Friday there were group discussions, questions answered by a panel of speakers, and a talk by Miss Zahara.
On Sunday, January 1, a lecture will be given by Miss Zahara. and the convention will close on Monday after a picnic or excursion and entertainment in the evening.
The New Zealand branch of the Theosophical Society has 955 members. The following officers have been elected for the branch:—
General secretary. Miss Clarice Gregory: assistant general secretary, Miss Daphne Darrock; treasurer, Mr N. Edgar; national lecturer, Miss Georgina Boyd; editor of magazine.
