HIGH WINDS AT WELLINGTON

Launch Torn From Moorings (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 30. Two small boats at Evans Bay were damaged by high winds and seas in the harbour last night. They were the 25ft launch Typhoon, which broke away from its moorings and was driven ashore, and the Britannia Sea Scouts’ sailing dinghy which was swamped. A broadcast and inquiries among residents and to the Wellington Harbour Board have failed to find the Typhoon's owner. It is understood the launch is little used, and the owner may be away on holiday. The Wellington harbourmaster (Captain D. M. Todd) said today all owners of small craft were requested to notify the harbour board of the position of their moorings, and a description of the boats. Response to the request had to date been poor.
