W. D. SKELTON SUSPENDED
W. D. Skelton -was yesterday suspended from race riding until 5 p.m. on January 2. He was charged after the Hopeful Handicap, in which he rode Baalbeck, at Wingatui yesterday with causing interference to Lucky Streak .(H. T. Anderton). As a . result of further interference to Marlow (J. R. Dowling) about a furlong after the start Skelton was charged With carelessly allowing his horse to run in while only a neck in front of Lucky Streak. After hearing evidence by the jockeys concerned, and the evidence of the patrol steward at the half mile, judicial committee, deciding that this was a serious charge, decided to suspend Skelton from the conclusion of the day’s racing till 5 p.m. on January 2. Skelton will miss two days’ racing at Washdyke this week, and the Waikouaiti meeting next Monday. He will be able to resume at Oamaru next Tuesday.
