SHIPS COLLIDE IN FOG .

Freighter Making Water (N.Z Press Association— Copyright) GALVESTON (Texas), Dec. 27. Tugs early today went to the aid of a Norwegian freighter which was making water and listing after a collision late yesterday with a Greek freighter in dense fog 12 miles off Galveston, in the Gulf of Mexico. An 82ft coast guard cutter was tied alongside the listing vessel; the 7082-ton Femmoor. The Greek ship, the 10,316-ton Tharross, was anchored at the scene. The Coast Guard cutter Cahoone took passengers off the Fernmoor and later transferred them to the American freighter, Washington Trader. which was sailing to Houston, Texas. The Fernmoor’s captain and 12 crew members remained aboard. The Coast Guard said the Norwegian ship was damaged amidships and the Tharross had a damaged bow. The Cahoone was standing by awaiting the arrival of the tugs, which will tow the Fernmoor into port.
