Country XI Out For 87 (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) BRISBANE, December 16. The stylish right-hander, S. Nurse, was the star of the West Indies first innings on the opening day of their match against a Queensland country XI at Gympie, 109 miles north of Brisbane, today. His 52, including five boundaries, was top score in the tourists’ 272 in reply to country Xi’s 87. The country XI was 16 for none in its second innings at stumps. The bright spot of the day was provided by K. T. Ramadhin with his 45, which included two sixes and six fours. His first six landed on the grandstand roof. R. Kanhai went cheaply. He also hit a six on to the grandstand but was caught in the covers trying to repeat the shot. G. Gomez followed his three wickets for 20 bowling with a nice 26 before he was out lbw. The slow off-spin bowler, D. Bichel, kept a good length throughout his 17 overs and had the West Indians tied down from start to finish. He took five for 87.
