TROTTING RANGIORA CLUR’S MEETING

Slick Chick For New Brighton Slick Chick, a narrow winner at Waimate last Saturday, will form a strong bracket with Tryst in the Cheviot Handicap at the Rangiora Trotting Club’s annual meeting, which will be held at the New Brighton racecourse today. Slick Chick was left dear a good way from the finish at Waimate and be began to loaf in the straight, allowing Van Rebeck to run him to a head. Slick Chick has plenty of ability and he should be a better prospect on the firmer going expected today.

Tryst finished a useful third in the Waimate Cup and she will be a good second string for D. G. Jones’s stable. First Song won at Greymouth and Waimate last week and looks ready to improve his record in this race. He is a good type of pacer and should be hard to beat. Mary Mavis failed on the soft track at Waimate, but at her previous start she was second to Peat Moss at New Brighton. She is a grand mare and should be capable of a bold showing. Insolent has been disappointing so far this season, but if he is allowed to make his own rules «n front, he could be hard to beat.

Sprink Jinks went a surprisingly good race for fourth in the Wai-

mate Cup. He is not too reliable, but could do better over the shorter distance in this race.

Gay Widow, which has raced consistently lately, Parados anti Croughton Belle are others expected to race well. The double will be 'run on the Rangiora Cup and the Rangiora Challenge Stakes. Fine weather is forecast and the track should be fast.
