Hutt Valley Wins Zone Tourney (New Zealand Press Association) PALMERSTON NTH., Dec. 11. Defeating Manawatu by 8 matches to 2 in the zone final, the Hutt Valley girls’ tennis team won the Howe Shield tennis tournamnet, played between Wellington, Taranaki, Manawatu, and Hutt Valley, in Palmerston North on Friday and Saturday. The semi-finals and final for the sheld will be played in Wanganui before the New Zealand junior championships in January. The zone tournament in Palmerston North had to be transferred to hard courts because _of rain on Friday. Results Manawatu beat Wellington, 6 matches "to 4; Hutt Valley beat Taranaki 8 to 2; Hutt Valley beat Manawatu, 8 to 2.
