HALBERG’S FIRST MARATHON
Third Fastest Time At Auckland (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 11. . The Olympic 5000 metres champion, M. G. Halberg, running his first competitive marathon, took third fastest time in the Awairaka Club’s "round-the-houses” handicap event at Mount Roskill on Saturday. J. Julian was fastest in 2hr 24min 7sec, the winner, L. Mihaljevich (off 15min), second fastest in 2hr 31min 21sec, with Halberg next in 2hr 35min 51sec.
