Centenarian Dies At Auckland

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 11. Mrs Anna Maria Ida Herkt, of Auckland, has died in Middlemore Hospital, aged 100. She was educated in Berlin and came to New Zealand as a bride in 1887. For many years she lived on a farm in the Dargaville district. On the occasion of her 100th birthday on June 11 of this year Mrs Herkt said she attributed her long life to plenty of work and plain living. Her husband died when he was 76, and of her five children only two are still living. They are Mr A. J. Herkt, of Piha, and Mr C. A. Herkt, of Ohakune.
