NEW AIRLINE HOSTESSES

Design Of Uniform The cabin uniform to be worn by the five specially-trained Airlines of New Zealand hostesses was designed by the airline’s senior hostess, Miss Tui Barclay, and the senior pilot, Captain R. Anderson. “Normally hostess uniforms are designed by someone sitting in a top fashion house somewhere on the other side of the world,” Miss Barclay said. “But we feel that with our practical experience, particularly under varying New Zealand flying conditions, we have designed a very smart and very comfortable outfit.” The white jacket of the uniform is of straight design with imitation pocket.s edged in junior navy blue. The collar is also edged in junior blue and the line of the jacket is squared with the epaulettes. The permanently-pleated blue skirt is made from crease-resist-ant material. One of the most outstanding features of the uniform from a hostess point of view is the exceptionally large white handbag which is trimmed also in a fine junior blue beading. The uniform is set off with a fully-fashioned white and finely trimmed blue cap.
