TRADESMEN RECRUITS
Draft From U.K. For Armv J (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 9. Twelve recruits for the New Zealand Regular Army .enlisted in Britain, are scheduled to arrive by Hastings aircraft at Whenuapai, on Monday. They are the first sizeable draft of recruits from Britain where a recruiting campaign is at present being carried out. The 12 recruits, all single and tradesmen, have signed on for five years. A prerequisite for enlistment was at least two years’ previous service in the British armed forces. They have also to be in the 18 to 40 age group* and fit \to serve anywhere in the world. The recruits will spend the Christmas period in Auckland and then go to the Army schools at Waiouru for a 14-day course before being posted to units.
