Major-General David Carmichael Monro, C. 8., C.8.E., wartime consultant surgeon for the Middle East force in Cairo, who had been educated at Wellington College, New Zealand, and Edinburgh University, has died aged 74. “The Times” describes him as a man whose administrative r’ .J and professional insight were responsible for the provision during the fighting in the Middle East of the surgical service which saved many lives which would otherwise have been lost.
