RADIOACTIVE CAPSULE
Search At Nova Scotian Port
<rv.Z. Press Association—Copyright) PORT HAWKESBURY (Nova Scotia). Dec. 8. A search was under way today for a tiny but highly radioactive capsule which broke away from a control cable at Port Hdwkesbury. The capsule was about the size of a vitamin tablet, the Canadian Press reported. The capsule being used to test welds on a new oil tank at the British American Oil Company’s marine terminal, emitted 15 units of radiation an hour, a company spokesman said.
Only one man was working tn the immediate area at the time, and he was not in danger. A man would become “very sick” after 15 minutes’ exposure to the capsule, the spokesman said.
Police blocked off the area, and no one was allowed within 200 yards of the scene.
