PRISON OFFICERS’ CONFERENCE
Working Conditions And Salaries
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 7.
Fourteen delegates from each of the penal institutions throughout the country are attending a conference here of representatives of the prison officers’ group within the New Zealand Public Service Association.
The purpose of the conference, the first of its type, is to enable representatives to discuss working conditions and salaries with a view to deciding the direction of representations to the Secretary of Justice and the Public Service Commission. About 500 officers and instructors are employed in New Zealand penal institutions.
