Queen’s Guide.— Patricia Waring, of Lyttelton, a member of the Opawa Girl Guide Company and a pupil of St. Mary’s College, was presented with a Queen’s Guide Badge by Mrs J. H. Powell, the Provincial Guide Commissioner; she is the first Christchurch Guide to gain the award under the new syllabus. Girls* Nautical Training Corps. —The end-of-year parade was held in Christchurch recently by the Girls’ Nautical Training Corps. An account of the history of the Women’s Royal Naval Service in New Zealand was given by the guest speaker, First Officer L. H. Corbin, W.R N.Z.N.S Among those present were Captain J. N. Allan, R.N.Z.N.V.R.. and Mrs Allan. Trophies and prizes were awarded to the following cadets: R.N.Z.N.V.R Memorial Shield, J. Pate; Collins Cup, J. Hirst; best-dressed cadet, R. Espiner. Sacred Heart Past Pupils.— The president of the Sacred Heart College Past Pupils’ Association (Mrs M. K. Henderson) welcomed guests to the association’s Christmas party at the National Club rooms. After the singing of carols, films of Antarctica were shown by the Rev. Father R O'Gorman. They were taken during his recent visit there. A bracket of songs was given by Mrs P. Goldsmith, accompanied by Mrs M. Buchanan. After supper gifts were distributed.
