The president of the Teamsters’ Union, Junes Hoffa, and two other men were indicted by a Federal grand jury yesterday, on charges of misusing more than 500.000 dollars in union funds in a Florida land promotion venture The indictments named the other men as the president of a land development firm. Sun Valley. Incorporated, Henry Lower, and a former bank branch manager, Robert McCarthy. Lower was a former Teamsters’ Union official.
The grand jury charged that the three men obtained funds from Detroit teamsters’ branches for a company known as Sun Valiev, which bought an option on 2475 acres of land In Florida. It was alleged they falsely represented that the Svn Valley Company was snonsored by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. whereas it was owned, operated, and controlled by Hoffa and Lower.
