KELTON MAY NOT START

Press’* Special Service DUNEDIN, December 8. •No rider has been booked for Kelton and it is possible that he may miss his engagement in the Tapanui Handicap, the second leg of the Tapanui Racing Club’s double at Gore on Saturday. Southern Host, a last start winner in maiden company, is a doubtful runner in the first leg, the Dwyer Memorial Handicap. Scotch Bid, a dual acceptor in the Dwyer Memorial and the Quin Memorial, may start in both events. There was little fast work at Wingatui this morning. Magic Casement (F. Henneberry) worked well to shade Irrepressible (J. R. Dowling) at the end of half a mile on the plough in 54 3-ssec„ the opening furlong in 12 3-ssec. Magic Casement will be ridden by Henneberry in the Dwyer Memorial.

Caravel (R. J. Skelton) ran a mile and a quarter in her preparation for the Dunedin Cup. She covered the last mile in Imin 51 4-ssec, the concluding three furlongs in 43 l-ssec. The best half-mile was recorded by Subside, which worked on the grass in 53sec, the last three furlongs in 41sec.
