FOREST SERVICE TRAINEES
Awards At End Of Foiir-Year Course (■Neto Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 8. Having completed their fouryear course in the practical skills of forestry, 15 youths were presented with the woodsman certificate at a passing-out ceremony at the Golden Downs junior woodsman school today. I. G. Douglas (Wellington) won the Corbett axe for being the school’s “outstanding sportsman and a leader in field work." The Entrican award for having maintained a “high standard of conduct and citizenship and giving outstanding example to other junior woodsmen" was presented to M. A. Evans (Trentham). Credit pass certificates were awarded to the following (home town and new posting in parenthesis): I. G. Douglas (Wellington. Napier), M. A. Evans (Trentham, head office. Wellington). A. J. Lamberton (Palmerston North. Ashley Forest), N. R. Lindale (Lower Hutt. Hanmer), P. H. Maxwell (Motunui, Conical Hill), W. J. Robinson (Nelson, Hanmer), and D. McG. Wastney (Richmond, Eyrewell Forest). Pass certificates were awarded to: C. E. Barrowman (Hokitika, Hokitika), K. R. Bythell (Blenheim, Rai Valley), E. J. Chesterman (Lower Hutt. Karioi Forest), W. F. Liddy (Greytown. Esk Forest), C. B. Maitai (Nuhaka. Patunamu Forest), J. N. Richards (Paihia, Hanmer), N. Robinson (Lincoln. Hari Hart), and M. A. Smith (Waikuku Beach, Ashley Forest).
