FALSE CUSTOMS DECURATION
£lOO Fine On Ship’s Cook A ship’s cook, Erick Norris, was fined £lOO, with costs, when he was convicted in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court today on two charges of making an erroneous custonls declaration and being in possession of dutiable goods. The goods, found on the freighter Kaimiro on December 3, were described by a witness as being worth about £lOOO. Norris pleaded not guilty to omitting from his declaration and being in possession of 171 handbags. 354 evening bags, 336 handbag frames, 48 women’s wallets, 144 change purses, 183 handbag panels, three cartons of coffee, 10 men’s hats, and one racing bridle.
