CYCLING COMBINED CLUBS’ MEETING AT ENGLISH PARK

The Combined Cycling Clubs held their weekly meeting at English Park last evening. In spite of the doubtful weather there was quite a good attendance. P. Clemence rode well in his heat of the quarter mile novice handicap. From an almost impossible position he weaved his way through the field to gain the decision by inches. In the final he was caught in a pocket and could only manage to gain fourth place. In the one mile group handicap he rode well to be up with the field at the end of the first lap. In the last lap he rode away from the field to win as he liked. The final of the amateur A grade three-quarter mile handicap was close with five riders spread across the track. In a blanket finish T. Cameron gained the decision from B Hazeldine by inches, with D. Wood only inches away in third place. A puncture caused an accident in the final of the six-lap cash handicap. P. Cook and N. Woodgate fell. Cook was uninjured but his cycle was a tangled mass. Woodgate did not fare so well and suffered abrasions. Results were:— Cash Events Two-lap Handicap.—R. Harrison (40yds) 1. B.
