(New Zealand Press Association WELLINGTON, Dec. 8.
The Wellington and Canterbury Clerical Workers’ Unions have lodged a protest at the conduct of the election at the conference of the national association of clerical workers held in October in Dunedin.
The secretary of the Wellington union (Mr D. G. Nolan) said today an application had been made to the Registrar of Industrial Unions questioning the conduct of the election and alleging that persons used votes they were not entitled to use. • .At the conference Mr F. P. Walsh, who had been defeated as president of the Wellington union a few weeks previously, was reelected president of the national association, though his status at the conference was questioned by Wellington. After the conference the president of the Wellington union (Mr E. D. McGuire) also questioned the Validity of conference decisions. 1
It is expected that before any investigation can proceed the registrar will apply to the Arbitration Court for an interpretation of the law.
