Mini-Cars Barred
As the result of a direction from the Royal Automobile Club in London, sent through the Association of New Zealand Car Clubs, Morris MiniMinors and Austin Sevens have been barred from major races in this country unless they are fitted with special wheels. All car clubs in the country have been circulated with this directive. Cases have been reported in Great Britain where these cars have lost wheels under cornering stresses in racing, although the wheels are adequate for normal road use. According to an Auckland report, there are no special competition wheels for the Mini-Minor or Austin Seven in this country, and it is unlikely that they will be obtainable for some weeks. About six of these cars entered in the Auckland Car Club’s racing at Ardmore on Saturday will be barred under this rule.
