MOTOR SPIRITS AUTHORITY
Reserved Decisions Given
Two provisional licences were grafted and provisions were deleted from a third licence in reserved decisions announced by the Motor Spirits Licensing Authority. The applications were considered by the Authority on the first day of its sitting in Christchurch.
The Authority comprised Mr S. C. Johnston, of Auckland, chairman, Mr H. L. Wise, of Wellington and Mr J. Floyd of Wellington, deputy member.
Westminster Motors, Ltd., was granted deletion of the conditions attached to its licence requiring that the pump be placed out of view of passing motorists and that no advertising material was to be displayed.
L. W. Harman and Cookes Freight, Ltd., were both granted provisional licences on the condition that a full motor vehicle repair service was provided. Other conditions were that the pumps were not on-view to passing motorists and that no advertising material was to be displayed. The application for a licence for one pump by Colin Chaston’s Garage, Ltd. (Mr G. S. Brockett) was declined on ground of lack of public necessity and of possible economic hardship to the adjoining garage, Blenheim Road Service Station, Ltd. (Mr H -Taylor), and Mr E. R. Lindstrom (Mr B. J. Drake) manager of the garage.
