RACING Massalia And Bon Saint Shape Well In Training

A smart mile on the trial grass by Massalia anil a very fast seven furlongs on the plough by Bon Salut marked the gallops at Riccarton on Saturday. McCool was responsible for a sound run over five furlongs on the plough and the fastest half-mile on the grass was credited to Corduroy. Both tracks provided good footing but the majority of the fast work was held on the plough.

Massalia (N. Eastwood) ran his first four furlongs in 50 2-ssec and left a mile behind in Imin 41 3-ssec. To ensure the pace was on all the way Mygrid (W. Beck) joined in for the last six furlongs and Garcia (O. Aiming) for the last half-mile. These two worked clear of Massalia in the rim home and ran their half in 49 2-ssec. Corduroy (N. They will be rivals in the Tinwald Handicap at Ashburton but Quite Able has the stronger form background. Studio (D. R. Mackie) and Newmarket (J. Leach) ran the last seven furlongs of a mile in Imin 29 2-ssec and came the last three furlongs in 38sec. Halla (J. Leach) and Golden Howe (W. Beck) completed a similar task in Imin 30 l-ssec, the final three in 38 2-ssec. Tamarisk (J. Leach) completed strong work over a distance by running his last seven furlongs in Imin 31 2-ssec and the final three in 39sec. Herbs (O. Anning) could not match Packwood IN. Eastwood) over the concluding stages of seven furlongs in Imin 32 l-ssec. They dashed over the last three in 37 4-ssec and Packwood led by two lengths at the end. Last Link (N. Eastwood) led King Lyn (W. A. Gibbs) by a length and a half after running the last seven furlongs of a mile in Imin 33 3-ssec, the final three furlongs in 39 2-ssec. Last Link was the pacemaker practically throughout. McCool (C. McDonald) ran his first furlong in 13sec, the first two in 25 3-ssec and completed five

in Imin 4 2-ssec. He hit out freely all the way. Luv and Ducks (P. Graham) and Kalinina (O. Anning) ran their last half-mile of an easy six furlongs in 53 l-ssec. coming home from the three in 39 3-ssec. Lord Nikita (L. J. Ellis) and Gay Mark (R. B. Taggart) took 53 2-ssec to run the last four of five furlongs and left the last three behind in 39 2-ssec. Gaytana (W. Beck) ran home from the half-mile in 50 2-ssee Her final three furlongs tobk 37 2-ssec. Birthday (P. H. Jones) shaded Real Response (P. Graham) at the end of their half-mile in 51 2-ssec. Beck) ran home from the three together in 38 4-ssec. Flagon (R. B. Taggart) and Vienna Woods (W. Beck) were at speed over the last three furlongs in 37 4-ssec.
