ENGINEER FOR HEATHCOTE
County Council Appointment Mr I. L. Hall, the first county engineer to be appointed by the Heathcote County Council, has taken up his duties. Mr Hall, who is 32, was formerly engineer to the Havelock North \ Borough Council. He is a registered civil engineer, an associate member of the Institution of Civil Engineer (London) and an associate member of the New Zealand Institution of Engineers. Before going to Havelock North he worked for the Lower Hutt City Council and for a firm in Hastings. In the past the county council has engaged the services of a consulting engineer for engineering projects and the day-to-day work has been under the supervision of a foreman. The chairman (Mr R. A. Young) said yesterday that Mr Hall’s appointment was part of the progressive policy to have its own engineer and works department.
