INDUSTRY IN N.Z.
Labour’s Policy (New Zealand Press Association) WANGANUI, November 18. New Zealand should not fall into the error of Australia and Canada in relying too heavily' on outside investment in industry, said the Minister of Finance (Mr Nordmeyer) in an address at Wanganui tonight. While New Zealand needed this money, the control of the industries should remain in the hands of New Zealanders, he said. It was easy to issue credit and easy to issue too much of it, said Mr Nordmeyer. The Government had authorised the Reserve Bank to issue credit to the fullest extent consistent with the maintenance of a stable economy. The policy of the Labour Party was to issue credit to the fullest extent of goods and services available.
