University Tennis
When the Australian Universities lawn tennis team visits New Zealand in January it will be without G. Pares, of Sydney. Pares, who was last month chosen as top man for the team, has had to withdraw as the Australian Davis Cup selectors have said that he will be required to play in the Australian national championships in January.
According to Information received from Australia by the New Zealand University Lawn Tennis Council, Pares was ’ extremely keen to make the tour. This would have been his second visit to the Dominion, as he was a member of toe New South Wales junior side which did so well two seasons ago. Now Australia’s best junior, Pares’s best effort on that tour was his beating of R. S. McKenzie, four times New Zealand champion, in the Auckland invitation tournament.
