A BRITISH-GERMAN INQUIRY MISSION began its meeting at the Royal Air Force station at Lyneham, Wiltshire, on October 26, to investigate the incident in which two jet fighters flew low over the Queen’s R.A.F. Comet aircraft near the Dutch-German border. The Comet, flying at 30,000ft, was bringing the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh hack from a private visit to Denmark. Seated, from left, are Lieutenant-Colonel G. Kadow (Germany), Colonel H. Hauser (Germany), Group Captain I. J. Spencer (commandant of Benson airfield, from where the Queen’s flight operates), and Major G. Baumann (Germany). Standing are Wing Commander P. Barber, of the R.A.F.
