Death Of Duchess Of Leinster
(Rec. 11 p.m.). LONDON. Oct. 21. The 86-year-old Duchess of Leinster, the former music hall stai and grandmother of the Aga Khan, was found dead last night in her fiat in the London district of Chelsea. During her career as a music hall star, one of her best-known songs was “Nobody Ever Marries Me.” In real life she married three times. Her first husband was Mr John Yarde-Buller, who became Lord Churston. The four daughters of this marriage became the wiyes of Prince Aly Khan. Lord Ebury. Lord Cadogan, and the Duke of Bedford. The Duchess, whose name was Jessie Smither, and who became Denise Orme for her stage career, had her marriage to Lord Churston dissolved and later married Mr Theodore Wessel. This marriage ended after six years. In 1946 she married the Duke of Leinster, Ireland’s premier duke.
