LAMPADA IN FORM
First Leg At Ellerslie “The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND. October 14. Lampada is selected to win the Spring Handicap at Ellerslie tomorrow. His form has been particularly good of late, and while there is easy ground his record should imLanipada is the top-weight with 9-2. The hardest for him to beat might be Shamus O’Bryan, which did not compete last week. and Craddock. Further softening of the ground would help them as much as it would Lampada. If the going is very wet, Craddock will come strongly into favour. Shamus O’Bryan is a light-weight with 7-0. and Craddock is near the middle of the handicap with 8-1. There are a good number of possibilities in between. They include Relight (7-10). Torrid (7-9) Appeal Court and Red Habit (7-7). The Spring Handicap will be the first leg of the T.A.B. double. The second leg is the Epsom Handicap. If the ground is fairly firm Sir Gabador and Kildaro might be the hardest to beat. In the event of soft going- Mesopotamia is likely to take beating. •Other attractions on the programme will be the Debutante Stakes and the Musket Stakes for two-year-olds. Showers today softened the ground again after it had been firmed by drying conditions at the start of the week. Selectionsv. 11.3(1 ajn.—Takanini Hurdles*. Insignus. Peter Night.
