SPECIAL SERVICE IN CATHEDRAL
Medical Association’s Request
A public service which members of Christchurch hospital staffs will attend is to be held in Christchurch Cathedral on Sunday afternoon. The Canterbury division of the British Medical Association has asked the Dean of Christchurch (the Very Rev. Martin Sullivan) to arrange the service. Dean Sullivan said that this was the first time he had been asked to arrange such a service. Hospital chaplains will take part in the service. These are the Ven. Archdeacon S. E. Woods, the Rev. I. B. Wilson, the Rev. C. A. Mitchell and the Rev. W. D. Harding. Dean Sullivan will preach the sermon. The date asked for by the medical association was the nearest Sunday to St Luke's day which falls on October 18. Doctors, their wives and families, medical staffs and nurses of Christchurch Public, Princess Margaret Burwood and St George’s Hospitals have been invited.
