One appointment will be made In the field of the Archaeology of Egypt. Iraq or the Iron Age in the Near East; the other appointment In the field of Classical Archaeology or the Archaeology of Europe with special reference to either the Stone Ages or the i Iron Age. In each case applicants should have had either field or travel experience in the countries concerned. The successful applicants will work under the direction of the Edwin Cuthbert Hall Professor of Middle Eastern Archaeology. The salary for a Senior Lecturer is within the range £2550—«x95—£3000 per annum; for a Lecturer within the range £l73o—xlos— per annum. In each case cost of living adjustments will be allowed (at present £l3 p.a.). The salarv is subject to deductions under the State Superannuation Act. Candidates should have extensive experience in the theory and practice of ultraviolet, infrared and, particularly, Raman spectroscopy. They should have made a significant contribution to theoretical organic chemistry, and be experienced in reaction kinetics and in the synthesis of organic substances. The salary range is from £A2592 to £A3102; increments are £ABS per annum. Appointment will be made at a salary and incremental limit within this range according to experience and qualifications. Appointment is for an initial period of five years; thereafter it may be made permanent. The person appointed will be entitled to one year’s study leave on full pay, plus a contribution towards travel and other expenses in every six years.
